Dial Up is SHAKING THE BABY!

To celebrate our 1-Year Anniversary, we decided to go all kinds of crazy and NOT ONLY move to a Saturday night but ALSO move to the ‘Loin!

We will now be dropping drawers every 3rd Saturday in the basement parlor of your favorite TL house bar, 222 Hyde (which just finished some amazing renovations, including a back smoking patio). Your little hearts and ears will be warmed by their TurboSound soundsystem.

In addition to your beautiful hosts and resident DJ’s, we will have a special midnight performance. OOOO LALA!

Once again, Studious 54 is honored to invite you to a night of the finest in underground disco, soul, funk, and boogie this side of 1977. About Tom Thump:
I’ve been a massive record collector many, many years and a DJ for almost as long, originally in Detroit, then LA and for the last 15 years in SF.

Manager and buyer at the world renowned Groove Merchant Records for 6 plus years, and Compiler/Mixer of several Compilations on Cosmic Flux and Kinkysweet Records. I’m working now on a Funkadelic Remix Project for original label Westbound Records, featuring many of Detroit’s best (think of some name, they are probably gonna be on it).

I currently host and play every week at SF’s most funky and “studious” Friday night party, 3 years strong, Loose Joints! at the Make-Out Room. As well as monthly’s at Wish and The Layover!

ABOUT DANIEL WANG:

Born in Northern California, Daniel Wang spent 8 years of his childhood in Taiwan, returned to California for high school, and attended university in New York and Chicago. Instead of finishing his papers, however, he ran out to underground clubs and danced all night to early house music and disco classics, befriending and learning from a few old-school voguers and DJ’s along the way.
Dissatisfied with the increasingly unmusical soundtrack of modern nightlife, Danny started Balihu Records in 1993. The first release became a cult success. Danny moved back to NYC and eventually found a job at Dr. Sound Music Store, where he delved deeply into vintage production gear and synths, including the Theremin.
Balihu put out a range of unusual tracks from 1994 to 2000 in the spirit of Philly and Italo Disco, and Wang began producing for the Environ label in 1997. In the past years, he has performed around the world, and his originality is gradually being recognized.

TuTu Tuesday @ 222 Hyde, featuring Nikita and Atish

Tutu Tuesday is skipping along on 3 years strong, basking in the afterglow of an awesome anniversary featuring 4 hours of Atish. This month we push boundaries with an exceptional local artist stretching his talent in an unexpected direction.

Nikita is notorious for powering through the night and riding the dance floor until dawn with dark, pulsating bass lines and dirty, twisted beats. He has established himself as a cultural icon through countless and memorable techno escapades alongside the likes of Lee Burridge and Cassy.

For his Tutu Tuesday debut, Nikita explores a deeper, more soulful side to his wicked record collection in a style inspired by Danny Tenaglia’s legendary Classics sets. We have little idea what gems will stem from the sacred crates but one thing we know for sure, this will be an unforgettable performance that is not tutu be missed!
