STEP IN2 THE FUTURE: October Haceteria featuring NEVER KNOWS [live]

Haçeteria is going to fast forward to the blackened but exhilarating world of Never Knows (aka Marc Kate), founder of the cult experimental electronic label Untitled & After (“it wants to be the 4AD of techno”). With more than a decade of previous electronic experience under his belt, Never Knows is Kate’s newest techno project, which mixes compelling rhythms with deep, moody and atmospheric sounds.

““There’s something beautifully pure about techno. Too pure. That pristine, precise sound needs to be undermined, soiled and sullied. Electronic dance music usually relates a narrative that is predictably written. The only way I see out of this trap is to be more of a mediator between the machines as they each take turns telling their own side of the story: sometimes harmonious, sometimes revelatory, often conflicted.” That’s Marc Kate (a.k.a. Silencefiction, a.k.a.Husband), one of SF’s more vital underground fixtures, whose latest, kind of spooky incarnation as Never Knows channels a tasty bank of live equipment as it folds old-school goth atmospheres into sweeping techscapes.” – Marke Beishke, SFBG.

Haceteria Presents: Etbonz (Live, PDX) & Ash Williams (Live, SF) Sat June 2nd @ Deco Lounge

This June Haçeteria is proud to present the San Francisco debut of rising Portland producer and live hardware performer Etbonz. With an output of tunes that jump back and forth between bouncey Italo disco, jackin’ house, cooled out cosmic, and tranced out techno, the tracks of Etbonz have recently been dropped by Tim Sweeney on his weekly Beats in Space show as well as written up by the influential Miracles Club blog, Ecstasy. His analog fueled live sets create a futuristic vibe from a lost era of savvy synth work conjuring soundscapes not too dissimilar to that of Juan Atkins, early 808 State, and cinematic Giorgio Moroder.

Also joining us this June will be the live synth debut of local groove guru Ash Williams, of Beards of a Feather fame, whose inspiration spans the spectrum of funky boogie to, classic Detroit Techno, to chilled out balaeric crisp cuts.

Haceteria presents: Saturday April 7th @ Deco Lounge

This month Haçeteria takes a turn towards a more experimental take on electronic induced dance floor with <body>, the techno project made up of Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst of the Bay Area’s killer acid/new beat/ebm ensemble, Total Accomplishment. Channeling live audio and video from the internet, <body> is sure to flip you into a world of haunting holograms and surreal soundscapes connected through fiber-optics and sweat to a land reminiscent of Berlin, Birmingham, and Ghent.

**Michael Serafini is the owner of Gramaphone Records in Chicago, THE preeminent record store for house music collectors, DJs and fans. He is also a resident at two legendary clubs, Boom Boom Room and at Smart Bar (for the Dollar Disco and Rhythmatic parties). He is DEEP, his is mad-skilled, he is one of those “speak softly & carry a big stick” modest DJs that people who are in the music scene, and especially those who appreciate the culture and history of DJing and House/Disco music have tonsa of respect for. We are so happy to have him doing his DEBUT in San Francisco at Go BANG! Allen Craig began DJing in 1991 at the house parties of UC Berkeley, spinning a mix of disco and the hardcore rave music popular at the time. It was inevitable that he fell in love with the deep house music that dominated the early 90′s gay underground scene. He followed deep house into the burgeoning late 90′s rave scene where, in 1999, he met DJ and promoter Homero Espinosa and, after a couple of years producing music together, they founded Yerba Buena Discos in 1992 as an outlet for their tracks. Yerba Buena Discos quickly made a name for itself with its quality underground house music, with Allen’s quirky, trend-bucking 90′s-style productions playing alongside more standard Chicago-style jackin’ house. As time passed, Yerba Buena Discos changed to a more eclectic style, allowing Allen to return fully to his early 90′s underground roots, embracing a style that is simultaneously retro and thoroughly modern. In the meantime, he has been working alongside Go BANG’s Sergio Fedasz, re-editing and modernizing classic disco songs for new-century audiences as The SyntheTigers!
